So last weekend on the plane, I started reading Beth Moore's book "Get Out of That Pit: Straight Talk About God's Deliverance". It's about mental 'pits' of sin or just despair and wrong-thinking that we either jump into, slide into, or get thrown into. Beth makes a few powerful statements that really stuck with me...I think they might resonate with you, as well:
"Beloved, let this one sink in deeply: if God allowed you to be thrown into a pit, you weren't picked on; you were picked out. God entrusted suffering to you because he has faith in you. Live up to it. All the way up."
"Satan's definitive goal is to reap destruction, but that's rarely his starting point. His usual opening is distraction."
"Listen carefully: if you belong to Christ, Satan cannot destroy you. The best he can do is to convince you that you're destroyed."
[Love this one!] "When you slipped into that pit, you went to a place you never intended. Now you're going to a place Satan never intended. Don't you stop until the enemy is sorry he ever messed with you."
